I was strongly discouraged from doing ART in my youth, and it wasnโt until my grown-up kids took charge in 2005, and gave me permission, found me a course, paid for it, collected all the items I would need and took me, that I finally climbed out of the bottle and now will not go back in.
I have to fit my ART in between significant commitments in the rest of my life, such as part-time paid work to pay the rent. Renting means I need to work in a medium that does not make a mess, thus, acrylics, not oils. It also dictates the size of my pieces as I regularly work in the kitchen and living area, which is often the only place warm or cool enough during our weather extremes.
I am self-taught. I donโt seem to belong to any particular school of genre and have until recently mainly done portraits.
I have had several exhibitions and won or been a finalist in some competitions.
