I am an Australian artist based in Tasmania and currently hold an artist residency at Quamby Estate.
My paintings are inspired by the world around me—its beauty, colours, changing light and the stories found within everyday life. I am drawn to nature, familiar landscapes, flowers gathered from my garden, the landscape I live in, and ordinary objects that quietly hold memories of the past.
I have a particular fondness for objects that have lived a life before arriving in my studio—treasures discovered in op shops, well-loved vessels and everyday items that carry a sense of history. These objects often become the starting point for paintings that celebrate their character, beauty and the stories they may hold.
Nature is another constant source of inspiration. I love observing the changing seasons, the colours and shapes of flowers, the play of sunlight and shadow, and the quiet beauty of the landscape. The roads I drive, especially in Tasmania, the fields, rivers, old buildings and overlooked cottages of the countryside all offer moments worth capturing. Sometimes it is simply a beautiful combination of colours, an interesting composition or a fleeting moment of light that inspires me to paint.
Whether painting a still life, flowers or a landscape, I respond to what catches my eye and stirs my curiosity. A café table bathed in morning light, freshly picked blooms arranged in a favourite vase, or the changing colours of the Tasmanian countryside can all become the beginning of a painting.
Through colour, light and composition, I create contemporary paintings that celebrate both the beauty of the natural world and the quieter stories found in everyday life. My work explores our connection to the things and places around us, encouraging a greater appreciation of moments we might otherwise overlook.
With more than 35 years of experience as an artist, I combine strong technical skills with a relaxed and expressive approach, creating paintings that feel warm, uplifting and easy to live with.
Above all, I paint because I find joy in observing and responding to the world around me. I hope my paintings bring that same sense of joy, beauty and connection into the homes of others—inviting viewers to pause, look a little closer and appreciate the extraordinary beauty found in ordinary life.
