Artwork Description

Reclaimed masonite

Signed on the front.

This artwork comes with an external frame

Guaranteed to introduce a sense of sunny adventure into any room this bright and unusual piece comprised of many panels is complimented by an equally unique custom-made plywood artist's frame to complete the contemporary look.

About the work:
These views, including a playground, lagoon and sports oval, are present-day depictions of my home town beside the sea. Working on-site in familiar locations allows me to feel as though I'm replaying memories of growing up there. Like a painted pathway to the past, the sites chosen are somewhat generic communal spaces – allowing the viewer to project their own potential memory associations into the work.

Artwork provenance:
Prior to being framed as a polyptych (multi-panelled work) elements of this work were included in Moreton Bay Regional Council’s "Fresh Eyes: Recent Landscapes of the Moreton Bay Region exhibition 2019".

An arid meadow dotted with native Australian black pines bakes in the midday sun in this contemporary watercolour made en plein air. This image of a home-made vehical - a bush buggy was painted en plein air by the artist. This means she painted it while on location not in a studio. This method grants the work a lively and loose look that encapsulates the fun of exploring the Australian bush in a DIY vehical. The Buggy was made by the artist's father and looks like something out of the Mad Max movie franchise. The artist has used desaturated hues including beige, peach and khaki to capture the dry bush setting while the buggy has a hint of camo pattern showing on it's tubular steel form.A watercolour painting made in a modern style captures houseboats sitting on mud amongst the mangroves at Dunwich on North Stradbroke Island. The artist made the painting while on location in a method referred to as 'en plein air'. This method grants the painting a fresh and expressive look that suits the subject of beached houseboats waiting for the tide to come back in. The artist strove to capture the colouring and tone of wet mud contrasted with shimmering mangrove tree foliage in the midday sun. Beyond the boats the freedom symbolised by the cloudless sky is conveyed through swift and loose passages of ultramarine and cerulean blue watercolour paint.A watercolour painting made in a modern style captures the tonal contrast between deeply shaded foliage and glimpses of the sparkling ocean and beach beyond. The artist made the painting while on location in a method referred to as 'en plein air'. This method grants the painting a fresh and expressive look that suits the subject of a hidden bush track that overlooks an epic surf beach on North Stradbroke Island. Many greens and browns dominate the foreground depicting various types of trees and plants growing in a dense tract of bushland atop Adder Rock, the artist rested here after painting other pieces on location in the area. She was inspired by the unusual sensation of dark foreground and light background and sought to show patches of luminous sand and water through gaps in the greenery.
