My art is a dialogue between the coastal landscapes of my current life in Australia and the cherished memories of my childhood holidays in North Wales, and my Mum's summer flower garden.
Moving to Australia 20 years ago connected me back to the sea and it's summer sunset skies, but my paintings are deeply rooted in the nostalgic warmth of childhood summers—playing on northern Welsh beaches with my family, and helping my Mum in the garden cutting roses carnations and lilac blooms. Their sweet scent in the warm summer air was magical.
Painting is my ultimate sanctuary; when I start to mix up some paint or pick up a brush, it is a pure, immersive escape, accompanied only by some music, a coffee and my dear old dog Peps.
