This piece was created with much love for an exhibition at a local interior design store and the theme was Springtime.
My intention in selecting photos for this site is to also show the viewer some of my working process. I hope it gives you a snapshot of how I like to work from my initial rough sketches to more of a blocking in of shapes and tone in the early stages.
My affinity with the 1950s, old Hollywood and anything vintage was poured into this work bringing together the gorgeous young Bridget Bardot and her pal Pablo Picasso.
I set them sitting outside having a casual chat and gave it a spring feel by working up her floral dress. I always research whatever I have in mind, and after reading a biography on Pablo Picasso was struck by the fact that he would never paint Bardot as she so desperately wanted. I think they endured a small love affair of some nature during those years.
May you love this work as I did in making it.
