Artwork Description

Beautiful Red Poppies against an Ochre Toned Background. Poppies are both Vibrant and Bright and have important meaning for many people. Being a Service Family with a Mum, Dad and Son serving I have always loved Poppies. I am also enjoying creating my flower series where I can relax, try new things and paint in a freer way.

Artist Bio

Julie Torrens is a lifetime Artist, known for her diverse artistic pursuits and experimentation across various mediums. Initially trained in drawing, oil and watercolour by renowned Racehorse Artist John Morrisey at the age of 13, she found her true passion in acrylics captivated by their ease and vibrant colours. These days many of her artworks include Collage.
Torren's work often explores themes of abandonment and the stories behind dilapidated structures like houses, sheds and barns. Her recent discovery of gel-printing has added a new dimension to her mixed-medium artworks, prominently featured in her Quirky Houses Series. Julie aims to create art that is both amusing and emotionally stirring.
Her figurative pieces explore the many faceted relationships of life. Often depicted with long limbs and large hands, her figures are abstracted and delightful.
Her Ink and Acrylic 'Ringmaster' Series are amusing entertainment highlighting the highs and lows of circus life, frequently shown within her other figurative works.
Her collage show an uniqueness that is hard to find and always leaves you wanting more.
