Artwork Description

Camping out in the Pilbara bushland. The sun has receded from the sky leaving the landscape in that last cool, blue green haze with contrasting patches of red pindan catching the last rays of light and reflecting of the white bark of the graceful River Gums that are dotted across the landscape.
It will be dark soon with only the stars and distant sounds of night birds and dingoes to keep us company.

I love travelling 'up north', and camping out in the bush (free camping) at night. The contrasts and intensity of the Pilbara and Kimberley colours soften and become cooler. A nice change from the heat of the day.
A calming artwork, this original landscape painting would suit any style decor.

This atmospheric Australian landscape painting has been created using multiple layers of texture and soft brushwork to build up depth and contrast.

Having studied fine art years ago and then gone on to teach myself different approaches to working with paint, I have found a special affinity with acrylics and textiles with which I can work intuitively, with my influences being both the landscape and my garden.

Working from my studio in the rural landscape and bush land of South West Australia, I am inspired by the colours and forms that surround me from both my much loved garden, the native bushland and music.

I create intuitive paintings in an abstract, impressionist style. Multiple layers of colour and mediums, including collage are built up to create complexity and depth. Sometimes recognisable elements and forms may peek through the layers, but I love how the viewer will create their own story. My artworks stimulate the imagination. If they also excite the emotions, then my work is done!

Textiles have been a special love for many years, and I create paintings from my own hand dyed Australian merino wool and silks. Combining the age old craft of wet felting, needle felting, machine and hand embroidery, I build up an image using multiple layers to create unique artworks.

Over the years I have worked with art collectives and have participated in numerous exhibitions. My paintings have been sold to collectors around Australia.
