As a painter with a background in architectural design, I am captivated by the complexities and memories of place and home. My work celebrates the personalities of homes, capturing the morphing exterior surfaces and the details of imagined interior worlds. I am particularly drawn to the disappearing suburban landscapes, with their patina of painted paving, wallpapers, and their colour schemes.
Through my art, I aim to preserve the fleeting nature of these spaces, sparking nostalgia and appreciation for the layers of history that surround us. My paintings become vibrant celebrations of the ever-evolving tapestry of our built environments, inviting viewers to contemplate the beauty and significance of the past, present, and future.
In my recent artworks, I explore oil and cold wax medium, taking a more organic direction. Trees and landscapes offer surfaces rich with meaning and age, echoing the houses I paint. You may find her work on instagram @juliettepatonw.art
