Minimalist and colour blocking are not often two words you'll find in the same sentence. That's because colours have a huge impact on our perception of space. Because of this, a minimalist might shudder at the thought of adding too much colour, let alone colour blocking. But that doesn't mean it can't be done. The trick is to keep it simple. Colour adds a lot to a space, so there's no need to add detail. Let the colour do the talking for you.
My original artworks are created by layer upon layer of bold colour blocks to create a bright, vibrant and unique artwork. Each original artwork takes 7 to 10 days to complete, layering colours one at a time and waiting for them to dry before moving on to the next colour and layer. When the bold colour blocks are completed and the artwork has cured, black keylines are applied to make the artwork "pop". Finally, two layers of finishing medium are applied before the final layer of a combination of satin and gloss varnish.
I have been a full time artist and art teacher for many years, contracted as resident artist to some of the world's largest cruise lines; teaching art throughout Asia, Australia, New Zealand and the South Pacific. I profile myself as an eclectic painter, meaning I paint in all genres and mediums. Sometimes I feel like painting abstracts, other days I wake up and feel like painting impressionist works, hyper realism, or even cartoons. What you see is what you get!
2017 I was awarded international juror status with ArtMaster Australia International.
2019 I was a resident artist for Mark Hughes Foundation.
2020 I was awarded 6* cruise status, meaning I hold "resident artist" status onboard the world's most luxurious boutique cruise lines.
2021 Featured Artist Fine Art America.
My works hang in private and corporate collections throughout Australia, New Zealand, Asia, Canada, USA and Europe.
Australian collectors include: National Library of Australia, Canberra ACT; Gary Avery Plastic Surgery, Newcastle; Dr David McKeag Ophthalmologist, Newcastle.
