Even though art was always my first love, from the time I won my first art competition in 1st class at school when I was very young ( a portrait of my mother ), I have come to pursuing an art practice quite late in life at the age of 50 when our family moved to the Redlands in Queensland. What a stunningly beautiful place to live, such a diverse environmentally rich area, right on Moreton Bay next to pristine Nth Stradbroke and Sth Stradbroke Islands .
Now we live in Redland Bay, a hop, skip and a jump to the beautiful Southern Moreton Bay Islands, surrounded by the marine life rich waters of Southern Moreton Bay. There is no way that I could not be inspired to paint here! I am turning 60 now, and for the past 10 years, I have consciously immersed myself in learning as much as i can about art , in both a practical and theoretical way . I have come to the conclusion that you never stop learning and discovering, but no matter what you learn, every artist has their own "signature" or way of doing the art that they love doing.
My passion in creating a painting involves texture, colour and light. I am always chasing the light in each painting. Nothing excites me more than creating a painting that other people love to look at. If they buy it, then that is wonderful and I am very humbled that someone likes my paintings enough to part with their hard earned money! But nothing gives me more pleasure than seeing someone standing transfixed in front of one of my paintings. Or even better, saying how much they love it, or love the colour or light in it, or whatever else has caught their eye that has made them stop and really look at my artwork. That the photo of it they saw online did not do it justice.
Any one of my paintings may have taken me months to complete. When you buy one of my paintings, just know that I have loved them all... they are like my children, going off into the world. I love all of them equally. Some were a difficult birth, others have been golden children... just know that they all received lots of care and attention before I sent them on their journey, and I hope that they bring you immense pleasure and joy for a very long time. I love to create bespoke original paintings, custom sized for your business or home, so please do not hesitate to contact me if you would like to discuss your ideas for an original artwork that you would like to have done by me.
