Artwork Description

This work expresses my experiences of wet seasons in Far North Queensland. The colours and composition evoke the undulation of heat and humidity throughout the monsoon season. The title is taken from the Rolling Stones album. Ironically it suits the meeting of the ever growing rainforest and the sea. The circular shapes may be read as lunar positions in the sky.
The painting as made by through multiple layers of painting. Each layer of paint builds up the image, hiding and revealing the previous layers that emphasise the rolling feeling of the tropical wet.

While based in Cairns, Justin played in bands, organised gigs, recordings and tours. During the pandemic he moved into working in the signage industry. Its materials and concepts of developing and displaying an image opened new pathways for his practice.
