Artwork Description

The combination of multiple spots, dots and texture make for a stunning unique visual experience on the wall. The surface is quite textural and energetic. It really draws you in.

This painting is from my 'Dots & Little Things' series around 1997-2004 which looked at various forms of news communication and where I really put print media under the microscope. Essentially it was the beginning of my fascination with all things microscopic and minuscule worlds.

The artworks are heavily influenced by POP art. The dots in the painting have a direct relationship with the dots used in mass media print images. This art series deals with lines of communication and literally puts print images under the microscope.

I started exploring newspaper photo images under visual devises such as magnifying glasses and microscopes. I then abstracted what I saw by reproducing and manipulating the dots by hand. The paintings became these crazy clusters of rhythmic vibrating spots and dots somewhat like what I imagine are pulsating through space all the time with the transmitting of information through the 21st century ether like molecules and atoms made real. This series is as much about seeing as it is about the process of making as well as the infinite visual possibilities contained within imperceptible things.

These stunning little round paintings instantly create a stylish talking point on your wall. And the pulsating nature of dots in the painting create exciting colour fields for the eye to enjoy.

Artist Bio

I am an Australian artist creating experimental abstract paintings to brighten up your walls. Layers of colour, light and texture are designed to create interest and feelings of happiness.I am a Melbourne based artist who has been successfully exhibiting my paintings for over 30 years since completing a BFA in Painting at the Victorian College of the Arts. Over the years I have had many successful solo and group exhibitions in commercial galleries and artists run spaces. My paintings can be seen in many media publications and are held in private collections worldwide. This is my separate SALE site where I am selling paintings that have been more experimental or for some reason have not found their special home as they are in a different style to my usual more recent artworks. I do not wish to destroy them or paint over them as some artists may do with work they are not happy with, because I am happy with these artworks, I love them. Instead I would rather give others the chance to enjoy them and enjoy the spirit in which they were created.
