Kaaren Koomen grew up on the Northern Beaches of Sydney surrounded by the beautiful Pittwater and Australian bushland. She has always loved art and in particular the wide Australian landscape and has painted from time to time, squeezed in between a career in IT law and policy, children, extensive independent travel and life in general. In recent years she has undertaken classes at the Julian Ashton Art School along with classes with Christina Rogers, John Wilson, Richard Claremont and Kasey Sealy amongst others. Her paintings reflect the places she loves, particularly Sirius Cove where she now lives, Tigrah, a cattle farming property near Gloucester which she and her family ran for many years and many other incredible landscapes that she has hiked, tramped, canoed, kayaked, camped on β or just appreciated β usually with a glass of shiraz.
In 2020 Kaaren established the Sirius Cove Artists with professional artists Peter Studley and Christina Rogers. Sirius Cove Artists was formed to appreciate the historic Sirius Cove and its art history, and together with guest artists, to paint the incredible landscapes of not only Sirius Cove but many of the mesmerising landscapes that nature has gifted to us across this wild and ancient continent.
