Artwork Description

In this artwork I seek to honor and celebrate the profound significance of community and family in Indigenous culture. Unity draws inspiration from the annual union of my family, where despite the diverse paths we have chosen, we gather as one, reinforcing the enduring strength of our shared heritage.
The central motif of the circle symbolizes the eternal bond that unites us, representing the continuous cycle of life, love, and support within our community. It embodies the interconnectedness of our relationships, highlighting the values of kinship, respect, and reciprocity that have shaped our Indigenous identity.
The warm earthy tones employed in this painting pay homage to the magnificent hues of our ancestral lands. These colors not only evoke a sense of grounding and connection to the earth but also serve as a reminder of the deep-rooted relationship Indigenous peoples have with the natural world. Through the use of these tones, I hope to create an atmosphere that fosters a profound sense of belonging and reverence for our cultural heritage.
Every stroke and detail in this artwork is a testament to the significance of family and community in Indigenous culture.

To ensure the authenticity and longevity of this artwork, it is accompanied by a sealed certificate of authenticity that is printed on archival paper. Artist Bio

Kahlilla Rigby has a strong connection to Country, which encompasses the reciprocal relationship between ancestral land, spirit and seas. When she is looking for inspiration for what to paint, " I sit and listen to Country, through the rattling of the leaves or the sounds of the animals scurrying around."
Kahlilla’s landscape watercolour portfolio is composed of a series of lucid and spontaneous works that are inspired by the beauty of Country and are interwoven with rich, warm hues, ochres and earthly tones.
These are juxtaposed with her illustrations of native flora. These compositional artworks encompass the meaning of “Blush of Australia”, whereby these paintings epitomise the strength and resilience of Australia`s diverse native flora. Kahlilla also has a textural acrylic collection where she aims to create a sensory experience that captures the feeling of being on Country. Many of her paintings are inspired by visions, stories and ancestral history.

She endeavours to create a profound emotive relationship between her art and her audience. To evoke a deep connection and admiration of Wurundjeri Land and Australia's diverse plants and animals. Furthermore, to awaken Australian people to protect Country, land animals and flora.
