Artwork Description

This is my best painting done at Maryborough Correctional centre in 2007. Where the life changing rehabilitation started which changed my life forever. I met an aboriginal/Torres straight chap called Bala and during alot of late night talks about his homeland up in Weipa . He spoke about culture and grounding your life and reverting back to nature. He often spoke of a spot where the initiation ground where boys became men and this is exactly what it looked like in my mind . I later showed him and he said it looks very similar to home . Whilst I was painting this I thought of mine ,at the time and where I was, and just thought I was in a modernised version of that place "a white fellah initiation at Maryborough". From that moment on I turned my life around and reflected from that negative place to walk away a man .

Artist Bio

Walking the line
This is my best painting I done back in 2007 whilst rehabilitating in Maryborough correctional centre . I'm currently homeless and have been since my mother in law passed from cancer. It's a cruel world poeple.
