"Green Bottle and Dryandra" was painted from a still life set up in my studio.
I bought the green bottle in little second hand shop, and I like the lime reflections the glass makes. The dryandra was part of a gifted bouquet, and I used it as a motif in the painting for a little complementary pop of colour against the green of the bottle.
This painting is part of a series of still life works where the shadows in the paintings are highlighted and the graphic angular shapes allude to the angle and geometry within a house or home. These shapes juxtapose with the softer organic shapes of the collected floral subject matter.
I have etched my signature into a layer of wet paint.
The surface has been varnished for added protection.
