Artwork Description

The Bat Plant or as it is also called Devil Flower is so exotic and unique from each pod through to the distinctive whiskers emulating those of a bat. The Devils Child (named as it is one flower) has an appeal to any gender and is such a statement piece, the Bat flower is not widely known thus giving it's admirers or owners an edge in having a not so well known flower adorning their wall but one that is both bold and mysterious. The unique colors require extensive mixing in order to portray the Devils Child in its extraordinary light. my heart belongs to the unusual and flora that is so unique and different that it captures you in a bubble while you consume each intricate detail.

Artist Bio

Karen Jaques is a Grief Counselor, a path she followed after experiencing many losses and challenges in her own life. Her passion for life drives her to be bold, brave and courageous believing that adversity can become a path that links us back to our authentic selves, and strengthen our capacity to get us through. That passion for life comes through in Karen’s approach to her creative work as she seizes the moment and expresses with hands rather than brushes. She captures the lightness of life often balanced with the dark in bright and bold compositions that serve to remind us that nature and our surrounds will always ground us spiritually, and emotionally if we are open.
"I am Karen Jaques, a free-spirited Australian expressionist working from Studio Shambahla. My signature hand-painted floral and abstract series are created entirely by manipulating rich acrylic textures with my hands, palms, and spatulas..."
