'If I Could' it came to me as I was painting. It amazes me how seemingly insignificant remnants of memory come to us evolving into a story from our past. When I was 17 I used to travel to work with my boss and he loved 1927 (a group) LoL. 'If I Could' was a song and in particular the first verse starts .. If I could paint, I'd paint a portrait of you. Sunlight in your hair ,a masterpiece of truth.
This artwork is a vibrant palette of Australian native flowers . I love our native flora and over the years I have learnt much about the characteristics that are inherent in flora and the region's they occupy. These organic forms have developed over the last few years, beginning as formal studies and then slowly I have eliminated aspects of the subjects to create a more abstract representation.
Memory,traces and remnants,threads that lay in our Landscapes and the spaces we occupy. I have an intent interest in the connections between memory and environments. A footprint,an area of flattened grass,a scratch or marking are examples of traces or something left or buried a remnant that holds memory of what has been before. In some form we all leave a part of us as we move around.
