Each piece is created intuitively and is comprised of interwoven layers of line work and colour. Flowing lines create a sense of flow and movement. Birds feature as a common thread through all of Karen's artworks and are representative of freedom.

She was inspired to create from an early age by her mother who was a talented landscape artist. Some of her earliest art memories are of filling countless sketchbooks with detailed drawings of people and horses. These days her paintings are much more expressive and she finds herself more interested in capturing a feeling rather than a likeness. "It has been a long journey in learning to let go of controlling the creative process. I love the freedom of not having a plan and letting the artwork create its own path".
