Artwork Description

Taking a walk near Mona Vale Beach on a clear sunny day. This image has inspired Karen to show the various textures found near rock pools. From beach sand, to clear ocean water, to the rugged yet smooth lines that form the rock pools and the sea foam that is formed by the recurring waves.

Artist Bio

Karen, a multimedia artist in Sydney with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Ceramics from South Africa, boasts a diverse portfolio spanning ceramics, jewelry, illustration, doodle art, and art teaching in her home studio. After moving to Australia, she seamlessly integrated clay into her art, infusing rich textures and bold lines into her paintings.

Using primers, modeling paste, and fine pumice, Karen creates intricate structural elements in her art, depicting birds, fish, native flora, and abstract compositions. Her fusion of watercolours and acrylics showcases her profound appreciation for LINE, TEXTURE, and DESIGN.

Based in Sydney, Karen thrives as an artist and dedicated educator, nurturing young talent from kindergarten to year 12. A decade of contributions to the Ku-ring-gai Art Society and the Willoughby art centre has earned her recognition locally and internationally. Her love for flora, fauna, and texture shines in her mixed media creations, crafting captivating textures in subjects like owls , tidal pools, seascapes each with its unique allure.
