Artwork Description

“Lost limbs” is a series of new Oil paintings depicting details of our beloved Eucalyptus trees in Australia, and a metaphor for life as I find myself in middle age, contemplating life experiences.
The lost limb, a symbol for grief and loss , but also, resilience- as life goes on, scars remain but the tree survives nevertheless.

Artist Bio

Born in Munich, Germany 1973.
Lived in Austria, Germany, Japan and New Zealand before settling in Melbourne, Australia in 2001.

Career in the arts spanning 20 years, with exhibitions both nationally and internationally.

The paintings are informed by thorough research into the changing face of the landscape and the impact of climate change, introduction of weeds and non native fauna and flora.
The work focuses on the change in the environment - thus raising the question, how do we respond emotionally? how do we respond practically to these challenges?
It is this juxtaposition that the artist is most interested in, informed by psychology, politics, religion and science.
