Seto Blue

The images of the Setouchi (the Seto inland sea adjacent to the coast of Shikoku, Japan) seen on ferry travels on my recent travels, really captured my fascination. I loved the layering of blues on blues on blues. I have incorporated some Japanese patterned paper as well as other fine tissue paper to bring more interest and texture to the painting.

I am a contemporary artist, painting on canvas with acrylic paint and sometimes mixed media. My work portrays nature, sea and land scapes, in an abstracted form. Imagery conveys not only the subject matter, but elements of texture, depth, energy and movement to connect with the viewer. I am inspired by the many wonders of the natural environment, by the rich experiences gained whilst travelling, and by a vivid imagination.
