Colourful cats are fun to create. I don't plan them. I just start painting. First the idea is vague and very abstract. For this painting I decided to start with a red background. My process is very experimental and intuitive. When I start, I often have no idea where I will end up. I start by splashing paint around, and the first layers are very playful, and fun. I can be very loose and free, knowing that I can always paint over any mistakes. Even the mistakes add texture to the painting. I find it amusing that each cat has it's own unique personality. Some are grumpy, some are happy, and some are cute. My style is always evolving, because I would find it so boring to just paint the same way every time. I'm always exploring new ideas.
