Through my artwork, I seek to capture the spirit of the Australian landscape and invite viewers to share in my personal experience of the natural world. Spending time in forests we become aware of our own small place in the world, bringing a little perspective into our lives.
High Country is inspired by the open forests of Mount Kaputar National Park in New South Wales. The painting captures a still moment at high altitude, where layers of mist soften the outlines of distant ranges and silhouetted trees stand quietly against the pale winter sky.
With its flattened perspective and subtle gradients of purple and mauve, this work evokes a sense of vastness and solitude.
High country is part of a broader series of landscape paintings exploring memory and place.
