I hope to capture the spirit of the Australian landscape and share my experience of the natural world through my artwork. I believe that while spending time in nature, or simply looking at images of it, we become aware of our own small place in the world, bringing a little perspective into our lives.
'Teatree Lake' captures a tranquil moment in a paperbark forest. Slender paperbark trunks rise along the edge of a calm, dark green lake, their pale forms silhouetted against the water. With its flattened perspective and luminous palette, the painting evokes a serene, meditative atmosphere.
Part of a broader series inspired by the coastal lakes and forests of Arakwal, Bundjalung, and Yuraygir National Parks in northern New South Wales, this work reflects my ongoing fascination with places where water meets land.
Influenced by Japanese woodblock prints, Teatree Lake uses simplified forms and gentle tonal rhythms to convey a sense of timelessness and stillness.
