Artwork Description

Taken from a photograph of Hamersley Ranges, Western Australia. Here, the landscape is dominated by huge termite mounds ubiquitously dotting the terrain. The sand is so blindingly red, you feel like you're on the surface of Mars as the sand slips through your fingers. The red earth is in stark contrast to the big, blue sky as it stretches our over you. This is Australia! In pure colour.

" Art is my life, rather than being part of it.

I enjoy painting just as much as creating ceramics and sculpture.

Having travelled extensively around the world, landscapes and natural forms have greatly influenced my work. Also, having lived by the sea most of my life, water plays a very important part in my being and in my work and is a constant source of inspiration, pleasure and amazement.

As a passionate scuba diver and environmentalist, my more recent work focuses on marine life under the microscope and the impact global warming is having, or will have on marine ecosystems, particularly on the Great Barrier Reef.

The underwater and coastal environments and their associated marine creatures and aerial and Australian landscapes continue to be themes which I enjoy exploring in painting and ceramics. However, I also thoroughly enjoy branching sideways for a change and getting up close and personal with portraiture.

I prefer to paint in a photo-realistic style, closely imitating the natural beauty of the landscape, plant, animal, person or theme.

Colour continues to be a theme in my work, which together with organic forms, I feel will excite and capture the imagination of my audience.

I hope my works will inspire viewers to fully appreciate Mother Nature’s magnificence and will urge more people to take care of our beautiful Earth.

I hope you, the viewer, have as much joy in viewing my work as I have had in creating them.

Thank you for showing an interest in my work. "
