I’ve always loved the feeling of being underwater—it’s like stepping into another world. In this painting, I wanted to capture the fluidity and movement of the deep. I painted a close-up of a diver looking directly toward you, as if you’re the most interesting creature they’ve discovered in the ocean.

I prefer painting portraits and human-centric scenes because, to me, living beings are infinitely more compelling than still life.
