Artwork Description

Welcome to My Neighbourhood.

An original painting on framed canvas. Part of a collection of paintings inspired by a love of folk and naive art - and the brilliant picture story book The Big Orange Splot by Daniel Manus Pinkwater.

Published in 1977, this amazing book was one of my most treasured items.... if you haven’t read it I suggest you try to find a copy.

Acrylic paint and paint pens were used to create a whimsical naive streetscape. It is my hope that these paintings inspire imagination and storytelling. Who lives in these houses? What do they do with their time? Where do the children live?
40cm high x 30cm wide stretched canvas on 1.6cm thick frame.

I hope you love this collection as much as I love painting them.

Artist Bio

Hello there wonderful person who is reading my bio, welcome to me.
I am a frustrated Toulouse-Loutrec type of character, with a mind full of ideas, creations, wondrous adventures and two feet planted in the “real world”. My art is non conforming, and quite inconsistent in style. I paint with acrylic mainly on canvas, mdf and within plaster. Circles and bubbles feature heavily in my pieces which take many hours to complete. The repetitive patterns and movements are like doing yoga or a dance for me.
I always - always - paint with a happy heart and a smile on my face. It is my personal meditation and I really hope you can see the happy in there.
Much love.
Kate
