Artwork Description

My usual approach to my artwork is to re-imagine the world around me and try to capture this on canvas through the use of colours, shapes, patterns, brushstrokes and marks.

“Suburban Deconstruction” explores the fragmented reality of suburban life through an abstract lens. This painting breaks down the structured order of neighborhoods, transforming houses and lawns into a series of overlapping shapes and muted colors. The geometric yet haphazard placement of these elements creates a sense of organized chaos, capturing both the complexity and monotony of suburban existence.

This artwork is unframed, has wire and d-rings ready to hang, has the artist's name on the front, and is signed and stamped on the back. The painting continues over the side so framing is not required however framing options can be seen elsewhere on this page. I hope you enjoy my art.

Artist Bio

"Art comes alive in the eyes of the viewer".

I am an Australian contemporary artist living surrounded by wildlife and natural bushland. As a self-taught artist I enjoy challenging myself and experimenting with different ideas and subject matters exploring the boundless possibilities of abstract and expressionism.

My influences are mostly from the stunning abstract and expressionist works of the mid-20th century. What I most enjoy about painting is the colours, shapes, patterns, brushstrokes and marks that one can use to create, or recreate, a feeling, an emotion, or just something fun. My approach is generally to reimagine the world around me and try to capture this on canvas. These re-imaginings can be inspired by objects, locations, nature and sometimes just ideas and concepts. Whilst I do sometimes create several paintings in similar styles, I generally feel the need to constantly evolve and not restrict my creativity to any one particular style. My art journey is all about embracing creativity, change, and new and exciting challenges. My mind is overflowing with ideas and the need to explore different works and push my boundaries.

I grew up in a creative family around the visual and written arts and although I principally worked in the information technology and scientific fields, I have experimented with a range of creative activities including sculpting, clay hand building, and glass fusing, before moving into watercolour abstract landscapes, and now abstract expressionism in acrylic. I am a member of the Royal Queensland Art Society, have displayed my art in many shows, and sold both nationally and internationally.

I hope you enjoy my art.
