Growing up in rural South-Western Victoria, Kate has always been fascinated by the country landscapes that surrounded her. From the every day views on the farm, to sightseeing around the iconic Grampians, she has pulled from this inspiration to create a range of Australiana themed artworks.
Once Kate grew older, she relocated to south-coast Adelaide. Despite enjoying being close to the ocean, she still felt nostalgia toward her rural hometown and began taking folk-art classes in 2001. She spent years experimenting with her folk-art and acrylic creations on saws, buckets and other items as well as canvas. In 2006, Kate's artwork was displayed in one of Port Noarlunga's art shows. Her time in Adelaide also gave her the opportunity to work at Accolade Wine's head office, which was located at the beautiful Reynella winery. The winery was home to many Australian wildlife and flora, which continuously influenced Kate's creations.
Kate moved toward art journaling in 2014, which allowed her to strengthen her creativity and gave her the opportunity to experiment with various mediums.
In 2022, Kate rekindled her passion for Australiana wildlife and landscape. Using techniques from her artistic journaling as well as her experience in folk art, Kate has found new and creative ways to portray rural Australia.
Through her artwork, Kate loves to share her appreciation for the landscapes and wildlife that Australia has to offer.
