Artwork Description

Oil on metal

Signed on the back.

Frame not included

Part of a body of work that explored doomed expeditions, this painting draws on the story of Charles Sturt's expedition to find the fabled "inland sea" of the Australian continent, so confident that he hauled a whaling boat across the desert.

This is a copper panel that is braced on the back with pine stretcher bars. The copper slightly overhangs the frame so that it appears to be floating when hung on the wall.
