Artwork Description

This painting was inspired by the Tracy Chevalier book, "Remarkable Creatures" centred around the life of fossil hunter Mary Anning of Lyme Regis. Based on true events this is a wonderful read. The painting was made in 2018 and entered into the Biblo Art Prize.
It's a very striking piece, too good to be filed away in storage. I'd love for someone to purchase this painting.
It has been finished with a protective varnish, and I have painted around the edges, no need for a frame.

Artist Bio

I am a painter mostly working with the bright, flexible medium of acrylic paint on canvas. I am inspired the landscapes & seascapes featured in my immediate environment, the ever changing coast of south west Victoria and the rural landscapes surrounding my home town. I draw influence from many artists including those working in the expressionist style. I'm interested in the way colour exists in nature and I concern myself with how it is incorporated into my painting, along with lines and paint markings. I like my work to be layered and textured to create the illusion of depth. Check out my Instagram page; kate_winnen_painter
