Artwork Description

A new treasure on a long narrow canvas. glistening on the canvas today. I recently visited the Long Point Bushland Reserve near Creswick as part of my research for a commission. I was thinking about different compositions and thought a long, narrow canvas would emphasise the long, narrow gums reaching up toward the sky. The background gradation of colour captures the depth and quiet, calming essence of the place, rather than every detail. This work is 90x30x1.5cm, unframed, ready to hang. It is signed on the front and comes with a signed Certificate of Authenticity. The work will be carefully packed in bubblewrap and recycled cardboard so that it arrives safely, ready to enjoy.

Artist Bio

Kate Wise's acrylic paintings are a celebration of the beauty she finds in nature. Kate plays with scale and negative space and creates sumptuous colour palettes to produce harmonious yet lively compositions. If you need more of these things in your life, welcome, you are in the right place!

Kate is an acrylic painter living on Wadawurrung country just outside Ballarat, Victoria. She says 'nature is an inspiring force' and it drives her creation of calm, feminine and flowing paintings that are original, fresh and lively.

You can enjoy Kate's work as vibrant landscapes, abstracts and florals, but in her current series of works, she is inviting you to delve a little deeper, as she explores the psychological terrain of landscape painting. Kate believes that the capacity to observe the complexities of nature, draw meaning and experience self-growth and renewal, are gifts that painting offers both the artist and the viewer.

Kate has been a full-time artist for 5 years, regularly joins group exhibitions, has won several local art prizes and enjoys participating in local community and public art projects. Kate's work is held in private collections across Australia and overseas.
