I am a Brisbane based painter using oils, cold wax, and mixed mediums.
In the late 1970’s I attended the Brisbane Flying Art School where I developed my interest in Abstract Painting and Life Drawing.
After moving to Townsville in the early 1980’s, I enjoyed doing three years Diploma in Fine Arts, majoring in Painting.
During the 1990’s I joined the Queensland Watercolour Society where I became involved in many watercolour workshops and continued painting with this medium.
For the past several years I have been attending the Brisbane Institute of Art doing Studio Painting with Nameer Davis and David Paulson primarily using oils and mixed medium.
Recently I have addended a Cold Wax Workshop tutored by Kim Barrett. I am finding this medium exciting to incorporate into my recent work.
My interests are abstract, industrial landscape and creative portraits.
“First, I construct then abstract.
Decontextualize then reconstruct.
I have a layering process of looking past the obvious and using my senses to engage on the subjects’ surroundings. My goal is to inspire those who view my work to look more carefully at the urban beauty around”.
Awarded People’s Choice prize in the Royal Queensland Art Society Abstraction Exhibition 2019.
