Based in Ballina NSW and drawing inspiration from our coastal areas and others around Australia you could say I have no favorite subject or style, I just paint what I like usually in acrylics.
While I have had minimal training in art I have relied on skills learntover the last 40 years as a signwriter, so with regards to colour and composition, you could say I have had a paintbrush in my hand most of my life.
However starting to paint at an older age brings its own doubts and confidence issues and that was one of the hardest challenges I had to face, so I just started, extremely self critical and fearing failure.
I decided that if I am going to fail I might as well do it in spectacular form so I picked the hardest subject I could and painted it in oil, I am referring to a portrait of my grand daughter running on the beach.
The reason being that even if I could maybe make it look like some form of art I might have a chance,
My work varies from day to day and I am very conscious of not becoming stereotyped however it is really difficult not to paint what you like to paint.
Since starting I have sold work privately, painted commissions and had an exclusive exhibition.
I have sold on Bluethumb and by exhibition. I have done commissions and would look at any worthwhile project.
Thanks for reading.
Cheers!
