Over Land Over Water

I painted this piece after walking the Overland Track in Tasmania in the summer of 2023. Cradle Mountain, Barn Bluff, Lake Will and endless plains of buttongrass - these ancient landforms punctuate the walk, and this painting seeks to capture my memories of the vast and stunning landscape that I walked through.

I am a graphic designer by trade but painting is where my heart lies. I like to bring some of my design skills to my composition, and love exploring the contrast of the abstract and the real. I have particular interest in line and how it can intersect a landscape or background in interesting ways.
Many of my paintings are inspired by walks I have done in Tasmania - the Overland Track, Walls of Jerusalem and the Three Capes Track to name a few. We have incredible wilderness areas in Tasmania, and I love representing them on canvas.
My sunlit studio in Battery Point, Hobart is my happy place, and that is where you will find me in my spare time. Visitors welcome.
