Kath Bertrand is a painter and ceramic artist living in Moreton Bay Queensland .
As a child she grew up in Sydney, and was influenced by family and friends and their involvement and interest in the arts. especially by her grandmother who painted in her studio overlooking Mosman Bay.
Kath has always engaged in artistic endeavours throughout her working life as a social worker. She was always painting in watercolour, and living in Moreton Bay QLD has a small studio by the sea . Kath completed her Diploma in Visual Arts at Tafe Queensland in 2019 and where she discovered her love of ceramics. Kath is particularly drawn to the local coastal landscape where she lives with the wildflowers, her own tropical garden, mangroves and the eucalypts and paperbarks featuring in her work. She is interested in how we interact with landscape through memory grief and finding solace. She likes to tell women’s stories in her work and to not be invisible. Kath’s art practice focuses on watercolour, acrylic and ceramic work and how working in each medium influences her overall art practice.
Kath is a current member of both the Redcliffe Art Society and the Redcliffe Pottery Group. She regularly exhibits with both groups being a finalist and a winner in 2020 in the RAS members show. A highlight has having ceramic work retained by the Museum of Brisbane and a winner with the Sydney Teapot Show. She sells her work both locally and interstate and can be found at The Old Redcliffe Fire Station Shop Space , The Loft, and Gatakers Artspace in Maryborough QLD.
