Artwork Description

It's not the first time that I was struck by the Pacific Black ducks. They have a distinct brown stripe on their faces that creates a friendly expression, which I find amusing.

Note: "Two Ducks in the Wetlands" is part of a painting series, which includes "The Duck" and "Sunset Swimming."

Artist Bio

Since the age of 3, Kathe has been creating art by any means, starting by drawing on the walls of her childhood home in Jakarta, until her father realised her talent and bought her art paper to foster this compulsion. This passion of creating art has continued, moving from walls to canvas and experimenting with mediums ever since.

Originally from Indonesia, and after spending 6 years working and studying in Singapore, Kathe was drawn to the unique beauty of Australia for which she now calls home. Her experiences in the different environments and cultures from her time living in different countries helped to inspire her approach to colours and artistic forms.

“Nature and my surroundings have always inspired me. I always take time to appreciate the birds, the wildflowers, the sunsets, the light bouncing off the walls, everything. I see their wonderful energy and try to retell it the only way I can, through paintings”.
