Katherine began her art journey at 8 years old when she discovered she could draw a horse from looking at a photo. A simple upbringing on a remote property in the Daintree Rainforest meant she had plenty of quiet time to focus on exploring & developing drawing and painting techniques, and follow her creative instincts.
It wasn’t long before her realism technique became works of creative and unusual colour use. This developed a style that still influences her current work today. Katherine cherished the opportunity to take part in gifted arts programs in High School. It was here that some of her style came to light - playful approach to colour and abstract, dancing & energy filled brush strokes. She sold many artworks to her teachers, art curators and guests in these early years.
For the last few years Katherine has launched into a full time artist journey using her favourite inspiration - outdoors! Together with her husband they have always lived an active and outdoor lifestyle. All these adventures for the last 15 yrs were brewing creativity inside. Katherine's current obsession - landscapes that glow, radiate, shine and emit light. They are often fleeting moments that display a new colour palette every few minutes. She cannot get enough of the moments in nature, and they are usually missed if you are enjoying the comforts of indoors.
You can find her recent artworks caught somewhere between the blissful memories of the tropical rainforest, and the country scenes around South East Queensland. Both will shine in her composition and artworks. She loves to explore nature, dive into the ocean, watch the sunrise and run the beautiful tracks in awe of all Queensland has to offer.
For the artist, outdoor adventuring ignites feelings of freedom, bliss, peace and calm that she wants to weave into her Landscapes for everyone to experience.
