Volkswagen Bug
In my childhood I remember a gorgeous gold Volkswagen Bug that belongs to a neighbour. It was always parked across the street under the shade of a flowering gum. It was such a small car but as a child it looked enormous.
Volkswagen bugs are very nostalgic. They came from an era when cars were proud, the ultimate achievable status symbol. I often wonder what became of that little golden big. I'm sure it's lovingly tucked away in some collectors garage.
This was painted in my new studio on a sunny Winter Day. I used thick, buttery oil paints and dry bristle brushes. I believe the energy of the artist is imbued within the artwork. This piece brings me joy.
