Artwork Description

This artwork is part of a series I painted of Australian animals and birds. It was inspired by William Crighton, who is a great Australian musician and often refers to crows and deserts in his songs.
I wanted to make the blue of the sky contrast well with the red of the desert sand, and have the crow sit against it almost like a silhouette.
I used oil paint on a gesso primed canvas to complete this painting.

This painting is not framed, however, if requested, I can add wire to the back so you can hang it that way, otherwise, you can hang it up with the canvas frame.

Artist Bio

Drawing on her rural upbringing, Kathleen brings the Australian experience to life, through oils (most of the time)

With a youth spent in the Australian countryside, Kathleen has always had an eye for the landscape and wildlife of Australia. Through a number of overseas artistic sabbaticals, she has grown as an artist, and now finds her work, inadvertently influenced by some of the great artists of the world. Now at home in her studio in Brisbane, Kathleen continues to draw inspiration from the natural landscape of south east Queensland, whilst also being influenced by the built environment around her.
