Kathleen is an Australian artist, originally from Hobart, Tasmania. She works with acrylic, water colours and textural mediums. Her work has been influenced by experiences with travel where she discovered the discipline of water colour with Asian themes, respecting space and protecting light. While still living in Singapore she was drawn to the work of Manjeet Shergill and local artisans. Participating in drawing and paint workshops with an emphasised focus on colour and intentional marks. Since returning to Sydney, Kathleen has been captivated by the texture and tangibility of working with natural materials. Her most recent works are large, textured, mostly unframed pieces and Raffia artisan structures. With every passing day, a greater awareness of Sustainability, recycling and the importance of minimizing waste has become a powerful priority.
