Brewed & Beautiful

My latest art pieces explore the juxtaposition of contrasting subjects. Fairy wrens were an obvious choice for me to include in this since I love them, they have such wonderful personalities and are so cute and vibrant. Coffee is another love in my life - so my cafeteria pot in this piece and my lungo in the first piece in this series are a nod to that. I also liked the idea of being joined for my coffee by these Spendid Wrens. Requires framing, sprayed with archival quality fixative.

Born and raised in Melbourne, Australia, I have always loved drawing and art. Art has always been something I have loved and come back to as a hobby as time and inspiration arose. I am mostly a self-taught artist and only started using the watercolour medium late 2016. Before this I mainly used graphite and coloured pencils for basic drawings. Mid 2017 I completed a short watercolour botanical art course that improved my ability and understanding of the medium and has been the stepping stone to my growth as an artist. I joined the Hobsons Bay Arts Society mid 2018 after participating in the 5 x 7 art prize and have really enjoyed and learnt a lot through workshops and demonstrations held by the society. Being a member of the society has also opened up new mediums to me, after doing a portrait course I now love using pastels and charcoal too. My subject matter is usually nature based as I am constantly inspired by the world around me.
