Deck the Halls

This is the original of the image I painted to use to make my Christmas cards for my friends and family this year. I love fairy wrens so it made sense to have one wearing a santa hat singing carols. I hope you like it too!
Daniel Smith and Winsor & Newton watercolours, pigment ink and gel pen on 100% cotton 300gsm Arches watercolour paper. Paper size is approx 32cm x 23.2cm, could easily be trimmed to fit an A4 frame. Requires framing.

Born and raised in Melbourne, Australia, I have always loved drawing and art. Art has always been something I have loved and come back to as a hobby as time and inspiration arose. I am mostly a self-taught artist and only started using the watercolour medium late 2016. Before this I mainly used graphite and coloured pencils for basic drawings. Mid 2017 I completed a short watercolour botanical art course that improved my ability and understanding of the medium and has been the stepping stone to my growth as an artist. I joined the Hobsons Bay Arts Society mid 2018 after participating in the 5 x 7 art prize and have really enjoyed and learnt a lot through workshops and demonstrations held by the society. Being a member of the society has also opened up new mediums to me, after doing a portrait course I now love using pastels and charcoal too. My subject matter is usually nature based as I am constantly inspired by the world around me.
