Windy Winter Chip Hunt

This piece was created for the 2018 5"x7" art competition. The picture was first painted using Australian made Art Spectrum watercolour paints then some extra details were added using soft pastel pencils on 300gsm Micador rains 100% cotton cold pressed paper. The artwork was then sprayed with fixative so the pastels did not smudge and mounted onto a 5"x7" canvas panel using acrylic gel medium. Finally when dry the paper was trimmed to the size of the board and the whole piece was sprayed with mat spray to protect it. This piece is ready to hang on your wall with the 3M picture hanging strips provided or alternatively you can remove the glass from a 5"x7" frame and add the canvas panel and put the backing of the frame in and close, this works quite well. Artwork size - 5"x7" or approx 17.7cm x 12.7cm

Born and raised in Melbourne, Australia, I have always loved drawing and art. Art has always been something I have loved and come back to as a hobby as time and inspiration arose. I am mostly a self-taught artist and only started using the watercolour medium late 2016. Before this I mainly used graphite and coloured pencils for basic drawings. Mid 2017 I completed a short watercolour botanical art course that improved my ability and understanding of the medium and has been the stepping stone to my growth as an artist. I joined the Hobsons Bay Arts Society mid 2018 after participating in the 5 x 7 art prize and have really enjoyed and learnt a lot through workshops and demonstrations held by the society. Being a member of the society has also opened up new mediums to me, after doing a portrait course I now love using pastels and charcoal too. My subject matter is usually nature based as I am constantly inspired by the world around me.
