Artwork Description

A small bunch of buds in bright pink which develop into a white flower to attract the bees. I saw this sprig on a Pink Lady apple tree when it first burst into flower at our home & was anxious to capture it's beauty in watercolour. Painted in a loose impressionistic style with all the colours of the sprig of blossom combined in the background. This keeps it all in harmony and makes the flowers the centre of attention.
Painted on 300gm watercolour paper with artist's quality paints.

Artist Bio

I have always loved art, from my childhood with a box of 72 Derwent coloured pencils. Painting is such an all-consuming passion when you really love it. I try to capture my impressions of beautiful, peaceful places with interesting colours & patterns and yet want to be able to paint any subject. I dream in Paintings, always thinking about what I will paint next.

There is an artistic thread running through my family and I was always keen to learn to paint. I attended a drawing class with Brian Simmonds before taking watercolour classes with Larry Mitchell. Larry encouraged the class to form a club and hold an exhibition back in 2001. This was encouraging with sales to feed my enthusiasm. I have since been self-taught whilst attending workshops with various artists whenever possible. Since then, I have sold many paintings to collectors for their homes both here and overseas.

I am inspired by the beauty of nature and feel very privileged to see the world through the eyes of an artist. There is a painting around every corner. Perth has always been my home, but with lots of travelling in Australia and Overseas I have a camera ready to capture every moment. “En plein air” painting is my favourite if the opportunity is there. Sitting in the sand hills on a beautiful coastline, with my paints is my idea of heaven.

Watercolor is the perfect medium for me- instant and transportable and all my works are painted from my own photos or onsite.

I hope I can impart my joy of painting to the viewer.
