Artwork Description

The colours and land forms of the beautiful rugged Pilbara region are one of my favourite painting subjects. Often just a quick photo while we are driving is enough to capture an image I can use for the basis of a painting. Once we camp I can get out the paints - my idea of heaven.
Painted on 300gm watercolour paper with artist's quality paints

Artist Bio

I have always loved art, from my childhood with a box of 72 Derwent coloured pencils. Painting is such an all-consuming passion when you really love it. I try to capture my impressions of beautiful, peaceful places with interesting colours & patterns and yet want to be able to paint any subject. I dream in Paintings, always thinking about what I will paint next.

There is an artistic thread running through my family and I was always keen to learn to paint. I attended a drawing class with Brian Simmonds before taking watercolour classes with Larry Mitchell. Larry encouraged the class to form a club and hold an exhibition back in 2001. This was encouraging with sales to feed my enthusiasm. I have since been self-taught whilst attending workshops with various artists whenever possible. Since then, I have sold many paintings to collectors for their homes both here and overseas.

I am inspired by the beauty of nature and feel very privileged to see the world through the eyes of an artist. There is a painting around every corner. Perth has always been my home, but with lots of travelling in Australia and Overseas I have a camera ready to capture every moment. โ€œEn plein airโ€ painting is my favourite if the opportunity is there. Sitting in the sand hills on a beautiful coastline, with my paints is my idea of heaven.

Watercolor is the perfect medium for me- instant and transportable and all my works are painted from my own photos or onsite.

I hope I can impart my joy of painting to the viewer.
