In the Mangrove

In the mangrove is a landscape which focuses on the beauty that exists in a scape which is usually a very muddy place. The wildlife and sea colours create a palette reflecting beachside beauty. The blues, greens and sandy colours are reminiscent of holidays spent in such places. Torn papers and textures contribute to the natural imagery portrayed and the earthy simplicity of the subject matter.

Kathy Owen is a late career artist who primarily creates contemporary 2D artworks. Her works range in size and theme but they demonstrate a passion for colour and expressive qualities. Most artworks incorporate collage or found objects to create interest and textural qualities on the canvas. Kathy has spent the majority of her working life as an art educator in high schools . She is currently employed as a Visual Art Co ordinator at an independent school in Brisbane.
