Argine (Queen of Clubs)

The French version of Queen of clubs is Argine an anagram of Regina‚ latin for Queen. So I was a little disappointed when I found this out. After some research I decided to paint Hera as Queen of clubs‚ as she was known as the Queen of the heavens. She ruled over heaven and earth‚ responsible for every aspect of existence including the seasons and the weather.
She was married to Zeus and was the Queen of the Gods‚ she was a very caring and nurturing woman‚ but due to her husbands cheating ways she often took her anger out on the women that Zeus cheated with‚ yet she still was never unfaithful and stood by her man.

Inspiration for my work comes from anything and everything, from past memories, stories I've heard, people, nature and animals. I love using texture and colour in my paintings, so will often use beads, buttons, lace, fabric and modelling paste.
