I’m Kati Garrett Filho, a self-taught artist based on the Sunshine Coast, Australia. I work across two distinct but connected practices:
~ hyper-realistic charcoal portraits of women styled with midcentury elegance
~ detailed paintings of birds perched on vintage and midcentury ceramics, rendered on paper or board.
My work is rooted in nostalgia. Whether drawing from the poised aesthetic of a bygone era or the quiet beauty of familiar objects, I explore the emotional weight that lingers in stillness, memory and softness.
Each portrait evolves through delicate, deliberate layers of charcoal, gently sculpted into realism to reveal not only a likeness, but mood, atmosphere and story.
